Texas Shore

I have always told people "I'm the shortest full-grown person I know." While this fact remains true, I have made a recent discovery. There is someone out there who is much more famous, but very much the same height. Drumroll please...

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is also 4'9! And as everyone knows, any two people who are the same height are destined to be best friends. Ergo, I am going to begin sporting the hair bump, wear 5" heels, and be Italian. Two of those should be easy, but my feet will surely pay the price for fame and tackiness.

In other news, it is finally the great season of Autumn in Texas, which means two things. The weather is perfect and the weather is obnoxious. Beautiful clear skies and 70 degrees, ideal for walking around in shorts and a t-shirt, but don't travel too far without a jacket and spare jeans! You never know when you'll find yourself in the shade and shivering or it's past 6pm and you're freezing your ass off. At least tis the season where girls start pretending tights are pants.

Also, when did EVERYONE get into a relationship?! It seems he did like it and decided to put a ring on it after all. Where my single ladies at? #Boston

Beans, Beans.

Boston is a lot of things. Here are some of the things Boston is not:
- consistent
- cheap
- dependable
- easy
- satisfying
- Texas

After 7 months of being here, here are some of the things that I am not:
- smarter
- nicer
- skinnier
- saner
- wiser
- better

Although the weather is dramatically changing for the better, I am not. And I am ready to move back to Texas and begin my real life. Some days I really wonder What am I doing here?

Arts, Stars, and Horseshoes!

Who: Christine, Kate, and me!
What: ROAD TRIP!
Where: Marfa, TX - Population: 2,121 - Area: 1.6 sq. mi
When: July 20 - 24, 2009
Why: Art&Stars!

Day 1: 8 hour drive to Marfa, TX with a stop in San Antonio at Chris Madrid's for lunch. mmm... Tostada Burger. Arrive at the Fuchsia Door - our Marfa Headquarters - and proceed to walk the town and find dinner (ice cream).

That night, we went out the Marfa Lights observation area -- THEY ARE HEADLIGHTS! Well, headlights, given the right weather temperament, that appear over the mountains. But alas, we were not disappointed by the night sky! New found obsession - STARS! I will never see more stars than I did in West Texas.

Day 2: Hike the Davis Mountains in the Davis Mountain State Park, Fort Davis! We met the creepiest old lady park ranger who whispered everything and stared at you intently, even when she was drawing little hearts on our map.

Marfa Prada in Valentine, TX! Unfortunately, it seems it was vandalized and emptied again.

Then back home to cook dinner before our Star Party at the UT Observatory! Saturn, Saturn, Saturn! There's some fancy stuff out there in the universe - nebulas, M16, Whirlpool Galaxy, etc. Can I have this for Christmas?

Day 3: Tour of the Chinati Foundation. Donald Judd (1928 - 1994), a minimalist artist, bought the old military base in Marfa and turned it into a permanent installation site for himself and his artist friends. Sometimes I really don't get art.

Afterwards, we went to the Ayn Foundation to see a couple galleries, one displaying works of Andy Warhol.

Then it proceeded to HAIL in Marfa, TX, so that was a lovely jog back to our apartment. After drying off a bit and changing, we drove through flash-flooded Marfa to Padre's for dinner. Frito pie + bratwurst = mmm, bad idea. Foosball, shuffleboard, pool, and some Scattegories to end the night.

Day 4: Breakfast in Alpine and the 8 hour drive home to conclude our wonderful road trip!

Weird thought:  If you are currently single or don't plan on marrying the person you are with -- chances are -- you're going to spend the rest of your life with somebody you don't even know right now.  THAT BOGGLES MY MIND!
Idea:  Google Maps should have a weather application.
Question:  How do meteorologists still make mistakes?  Really.
I wish the phrase "antsy in the pantsy" didn't sound so dirty.  I want to use it more.

Day 63 of unemployment.
Day 6 of oral contraceptives.
Day 5 of new diet&exercise.

I ate another banana today (yesterday), but this time NO ONE WAS AROUND TO OPEN IT FOR ME.  I am convinced that opening a banana is something you have to learn at an early age, ya know, while the neural synapses haven't fully formed yet.  And since I have eaten a total of 10 bananas in my life (6 within the past year!), I will never be able to open one myself.  Needless to say, I ate a very smushy banana.
Suck it, evolution!  I did NOT come from monkeys...
